What's Good about this Site
Brooks is a leader in running shoes & gear. Their website is fast, colorful, and optimized for sales. Their home page does a nice job prompting a user to go deeper into the site by providing appealing pictures and copy that grabs a visitor’s attention. On a desktop, the first few panels are immersive, focusing the visitor’s attention on a simple headline, call-to-action, and 2-3 sentence leader paragraph. Towards the bottom, they help visitors “find the perfect pair” or a store near them. Very helpful. Finally, their use of the blue accent colors does a nice job making the calls to action stand out without being overpowering.
Their catalog are also immersive and make it easy for someone to drill down to find the products they want.
Suggestions We Might Make
This is a beautiful, well-done site. It would be nice, however, for search to be a bit more prominent for a visitor who knows what they’re looking for. Their help menu at the bottom looks like live chat, but isn’t and doesn’t autocomplete when a visitor starts typing. It’s hard to know exactly what’s on the other side of that help field: query results? A contact form? Finally, their homepage doesn’t feature anything from all of the categories they have products for, prompting a visitor interested in apparel or sports bras to actively seek that out. Featuring some of that product on the homepage might help runners discover products they didn’t know Brooks carried.
Still, over all, a delightful website.
